Tangerang, June 21, 2024 – Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive is Subaru's core technology that has been used for over 50 years, and since 2009, this technology has become even smarter with the introduction of X-MODE. To showcase the intelligence of S-AWD and X-MODE, Subaru Indonesia, together with the Jejelogy 4x4 school team, held the X-MODE Xperience event over two days on June 21-22, 2024, specifically for journalists, automotive enthusiasts, and Subaru owners. This test drive event not only provided an in-depth experience of Subaru's advanced X-MODE technology, but participants were also given insights and tips on off-road driving techniques and directly explored the capabilities of Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive using various SUV models such as the Subaru Forester, Subaru Crosstrek, and Subaru Outback, guided directly by rally driver and offroader Julian Johan, the founder of Jejelogy 4x4 School.

X-MODE Feature
When activated, X-MODE adjusts several critical systems in your Subaru to ensure safety and provide exceptional traction and control.

Engine Throttle Response
When stuck in ice, snow, or mud, we tend to press the gas harder. However, this can provide excessive torque, causing the wheels to spin quickly without traction. With X-MODE, the engine delivers torque gradually even if the gas is fully pressed, until the wheels gain sufficient traction.

Transmission
On steep inclines or challenging terrains like sand, X-MODE forces the transmission to stay in a low gear to maximize power. This is similar to the principle in manual 4WD vehicles during off-road conditions, but X-MODE does it automatically with the press of a button.

AWD System
X-MODE enhances the AWD system by increasing the front/rear coupling strength, distributing power more evenly between the front and rear wheels, maximizing traction when it’s most needed.

VDC System
With X-MODE, the Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) system provides better Limited Slip Differential (LSD) control, with quicker braking only on the slipping wheel.

Hill Descent Control
Hill Descent Control (HDC) is a useful feature of X-MODE. When descending a steep hill with X-MODE activated, HDC automatically controls the throttle and brakes, keeping the Subaru stable so you can focus solely on steering. HDC only functions below 12 mph.
