Jakarta, October 24, 2024 – PT Plaza Auto Mega officially presents SPORTSTIVAL: Subaru Sports Car Festival, showcasing Subaru's sports car lineup, including the Subaru BRZ, Subaru WRX Sedan, and Subaru WRX Wagon. The event takes place at The Forum Atrium, Mall Kelapa Gading 3, from October 24 to October 27, 2024. Visitors can enjoy the launch of the 2025 Subaru BRZ, which comes equipped with new features, attractive year-end offers for the WRX and BRZ, and an exhibition of the Subaru BRZ used by the Subaru Garasi Drift Team in the PRO class Drift championship, featuring the latest improvements on the BRZIKO Version 2.

 

At today’s press conference, Arie Christopher, CEO of Subaru Indonesia, and Ziko Harnadi, a drifter from the Subaru Garasi Drift Team, were present to share information about the improvements in the 2025 Subaru BRZ and BRZIKO Version 2.

 

Arie Christopher, CEO of Subaru Indonesia, stated, “The latest Subaru BRZ comes with significant enhancements, including more comfortable handling for everyday use and an increasingly sporty setup for track days. These improvements include technical developments in electronic power steering (EPS), a new suspension, and a SPORT mode on the 6-speed manual transmission. These upgrades are a result of research from the Super TaikyuⓇ (Japanese Endurance Race) championship, where the Subaru BRZ No. 61 is driven by Takuto Iguchi and Hideki Yamauchi. The latest Subaru BRZ will begin delivery to customers at the end of October 2024.”

 

Ziko Harnadi, Drifter of the Subaru Garasi Drift Team, added, “The Subaru BRZ is indeed designed for motorsport. With the 'Pure Sports Car' platform, the Garasi Drift team managed to find the best setup for Drift championships. The BRZIKO performed very competitively in the Indonesia Drift Series, achieving Top Qualifier at D1GP and first place podium in the PRO class in round 5. The enhancements in BRZIKO Version 2 include better aerodynamics, STI accessories, and a new steering wheel in collaboration with Vertex.”

 

Ismail Ashlan, GM of Marketing & PR at Subaru Indonesia, highlighted five main points of improvement in the 2025 Subaru BRZ: “First, a new EPS that is smoother at low RPMs and more responsive at high speeds. Second, a new suspension finely tuned to improve rebound and road feedback. Third, the addition of a SPORT mode in the manual variant for more instant torque response. Fourth, a recalibrated active sound control for a more thrilling driving experience, and finally, a wider RPM range during downshifts in the automatic transmission, enabling faster maneuvers in corners. This combination makes the Subaru BRZ a benchmark in the sports coupe segment in terms of features and value.”

Refinements of the Pure Sports Car – Subaru BRZ MY2025

 

The new Subaru BRZ arrives with significant improvements in driving performance, including a new, more responsive shock absorber suspension that adapts to various road conditions. The more precise electronic power steering (EPS) system provides better control, instilling confidence in drivers, whether maneuvering at low or high speeds.

 

The latest Subaru BRZ now comes with a dedicated SPORT mode in the manual transmission, allowing drivers to feel sharper throttle response, faster torque delivery (starting at 2,500rpm), and active sound control that adds an adrenaline-pumping driving experience. When SPORT mode is activated, the instrument cluster display also changes, enhancing the driving experience and clearly showing the RPM.

 

The range of engine speeds allowed during manual downshifts in the AT model has been expanded in the new Subaru BRZ, enhancing the enjoyment of vehicle control in sporty driving. In previous models, the upper engine speed limit was set to protect the transmission, but some customers wanted higher engine speeds in lower gears. In the new Subaru BRZ, the control system now considers the driver’s intent based on vehicle conditions, such as the angle of the gas/brake pedal and deceleration, to determine the permissible engine speed limit. This allows the driver to control the car according to their preferences while enjoying the sporty sound when downshifting.

 

By extending this control, Subaru further strengthens the philosophy of "Enjoyment" in driving, perhaps reminding us of Ayrton Senna’s quote: "You cannot overtake 15 cars in sunny weather, but you can when it's raining." In this spirit, the Subaru BRZ now gives drivers more freedom, enabling Fast-in and Fast-out!

 

The Subaru BRZ MY2025 retains the 2,400cc, 4-cylinder FA24 Boxer engine, with an output of 237 PS and peak torque of 250 Nm, along with rear-wheel drive (RWD). Weighing under 1,300 kg, the Boxer engine and RWD combination offer a dynamic and enjoyable driving experience. The car is also designed for practicality, with rear seats that fold flat to increase cargo capacity.

 

The cabin of the Subaru BRZ provides comfort and modern features, including an 8-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ integration, and a rearview camera. The low seating position typical of sports cars is complemented by good visibility through A, B, and C pillars made of high-strength steel.
